Happy Holidays!

The holidays are upon us! The days before Thanksgiving through the start of Winter Break are very fun, fast-paced, and somewhat stressful weeks across our schools. Ultimately they come together in positive learning and community experiences for students, staff, and families.

As we shared last week, we have student-led organizations that are leading service projects across our community. High School FCCLA students spent the weekend shopping at Walmart for families in our community. FFA students volunteered their time for the Union County Care Train event on Saturday. H2O and National Junior Honor Society, two middle school groups, conducted a food drive for the Milford Center Food Pantry and set up a giving tree for those in need. The elementary school has collected food items to donate to local food pantries as well. It is powerful to see our students support these causes and continue to support our friends, families, and neighbors.

Last night we had our Winter Concert. The preparation for this show has taken weeks and it is a highlight for our schools heading into winter break. It was a great show!! Our high school students continue to prepare for and take their semester exams. During all of this, our winter extracurricular and co-curricular activities continue to participate in events. These three weeks are definitely packed for members across our school community.

Seeing all of this makes me very thankful. I am thankful that our students come to school every day with a focus on learning and contributing to our school community. Our teachers and support staff continue to care about kids, connect, and believe in their growth. Families support our schools in so many ways, but even more so during these three weeks. I am continually humbled to live, work, and serve in our school community. Thank you for that opportunity.

Enjoy the next few days. They are fun and stressful, but always worth it. Have a wonderful winter break highlighted with family and friends. Thank you for choosing to be a part of Fairbanks Local Schools. Happy Holidays!!
